{"id":510,"date":"2012-02-03T01:10:23","date_gmt":"2012-02-03T01:10:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.filipesaraiva.info\/?p=510"},"modified":"2012-02-03T01:11:52","modified_gmt":"2012-02-03T01:11:52","slug":"kde-4-8-release-party-in-sao-carlos-brazil","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/filipe.saraiva.tec.br\/blog\/?p=510","title":{"rendered":"KDE 4.8 Release Party in S\u00e3o Carlos &#8211; Brazil"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It happened in <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/S%C3%A3o_Carlos\" target=\"_blank\">S\u00e3o Carlos<\/a>, on January 27th, the <a href=\"http:\/\/community.kde.org\/Promo\/Events\/Release_Parties\/4.8#S.C3.A3o_Carlos\" target=\"_blank\">KDE 4.8 Release Party<\/a> &#8211; the second time in this city.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It was time to meet friends, drink some beers, talk about <a href=\"http:\/\/kde.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">KDE<\/a>, the life, the universe and everything, and of course, drink more beer. This time I had time to install the new version of KDE on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mageia.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mageia<\/a> (thanks <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.filipesaraiva.info\/?p=497\" target=\"_blank\">mikala<\/a>!), to allow those who had not seen the new version, could do a test drive.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The rain interfered a little, but attended four brave comrades to celebrate the work of the entire ecosystem of free software that is KDE.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.filipesaraiva.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/IMG_3931.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"648\" height=\"432\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Left to right: Daniel, Rodrigo, Vitor e Filipe<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For me, KDE 4.8 release is more special because it is the first time that I have a large contribution of software being distributed with the project. This is the <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.filipesaraiva.info\/?tag=gsoc2011-scilab-backend\" target=\"_blank\">backend for Scilab in Cantor<\/a>, a result of my work in the Google Summer of Code 2011, which finally came to you computer, KDErs.
